You will work collaboratively with a classmate on this assignment. The project is designed as an opportunity for you to critique an existing unit plan according to the following criteria:

  • to what extent is the plan accessible to the widest range of learners possible in a given school context?
  • to what extent does the plan match the principles of the Universal Design for Learning?
  • appropriate integration of technology in the plan
  • use of assistive technology to enable participation of diverse learners in the plan
  • use of other materials and resources to promote accessible learning (e.g. digital texts, visuals, multimedia, etc.)

You will be responsible for choosing a lesson plan from the recommended websites. You could also use a lesson that you yourself have created. Decide this with your partner. Make changes to the lesson plan as necessary according to the UDL framework. You will submit the following materials upon completion of the project:
  • UDL Analysis Form:
  • revised lesson plan without markups
  • a reflection narrative (3-page, double space)
    • rationale for the changes made to the existing plan
    • what you have learned about universal design for learning
    • what you have learned about technology integration
    • what you have learned about content teaching
    • what you have learned about collaboration with your team members
    • include sources or artifacts that you will use as part of the revised lesson plan

***Note: Be sure to save your work with a unique name (e.g. include your own name) so that nobody else's assignment will be mixed up with yours. For example, if you all save the completed UDL Analysis Form as UDL Analysis Form.doc, you will end up canceling out each other's files when you try to insert your completed form. That's why it is very important for you to give each of your finished product a unique file name before inserting it on the Wikispaces.
